Church members who attended GA this past June will provide personal accounts of meaningful events, learning experiences, and spiritual moments from GA 2010. Sept. 26: Humanism. Samuel Angol leads the first part of this two-part series on Humanism, including religious humanism, secular humanism, trans-humanism, and eco-humanism. (Part 2 scheduled for Oct. 3, 2010.) Special Event: Presentation and Discussion on "Managing Fears and Anxiety," led by David Grimm, LMFT This seminar examines the problem of anxiety as we encounter it medically, psychologically, spiritually, and chemically in our brain. The purpose is to suggest some self-help tools and host a forum to reflect, discuss and possibly improve upon on our management skills toward being calmer and happier human beings. David Y. Grimm is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in practice 25 years. He has a Master of Divinity degree from The Thomas Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California, and a Master's degree in clinical counseling from California State University. Areas of experience and specialization include treatment for clinical depression, anxiety, relationship problems, PTSD, and grief. (And may we add that David is the son of church member Nancy Kellman!) Plan Ahead: Spiritual Cinema will show the (90-min.) documentary, "Amongst White Clouds," on Saturday, Oct. 2nd, starting at 7:00pm in the Hiett Library. Details will be in the October Oracle and e-Blasts. Meditation: Each Thursday evening, from 7:00 to 8:30, a meditation group meets in the Hiett Library.
