“The True Story of Thanksgiving”

Worship — 10:30 a.m. online via Zoom and Facebook Live

“The True Story of Thanksgiving”
Richard Cook/ Sarah Gray / Aubrey Connelly-Candelario

The traditional Thanksgiving story’s myth conceals the true story of the colonization of the American Natives. Yet the natives themselves celebrated an October thanksgiving festival of the harvest and shared community, offering thanks to the Great Mystery, the web of life, as they faced a long winter.

Flower Garden: Open for business

The latest addition to our church campus, our Flower Garden, is now producing lots of blooms. Located on the Robinson Street side of the Enrichment Center, it currently offers zinnias, marigolds, sunflowers and crinum lilies. Plans are to change out the plants throughout the year so that we’ll always have beautiful flowers to cut for
bouquets.

When indoor services resume, they’ll be used by the Flower Committee for the Sanctuary. Currently, the Care Team is taking bouquets to members and friends who need a boost during the pandemic. If you’d like to share in the bounty for a member in need, please feel free.

If you’d like to help with the Flower Garden, we’d love to have you join the team. Email Linda P or Katherine V at flowers@orlandoUU.org.

Ding, Dong the Bell is Back

We are approaching a time soon when we will be done with our remodeling project, and we want to rehang our outside bell. It previously hung in the pergola between Gore Hall and the Sanctuary.

As part of our last remodeling, when the pergola was being removed, we took the bell down for safekeeping. We are now checking in with the guardian of the bell to confirm that it is safe and ready for the new reveal.

With big thanks to the Completing the Dream Team and the Long Term Maintenance Team, we look forward to ringing our bell again even if it’s just a video!
