COVID Reopening Update 1/14/22:

Pleased to announce a COVID Policy Update
Dear Members and Friends,

Understandably, we have all been challenged and disappointed by the return of COVID Red conditions that resulted in ending our opportunity to hold large in-person gatherings including Worship Services, indoors. We went so quickly from Yellow conditions to Red, we seemingly skipped right over Orange.  Under the original policy, we could not meet indoors until we returned to Yellow – which appears to be several weeks if not months away.  Faced with the fluid nature of COVID in 2022, the Reopening Task Force proposed, and the Board approved, a policy change that will allow us – under Orange conditions – to return to in-person gatherings and Worship Services safely and sooner.

Details [on the third page of the revised Reopening Policy] are posted on the website and can be viewed here.   The following provides an overview of the basics:

  • Attendees will need to register for service each week, as we have been doing since we began meeting in person in November.
  • Attendees will need to show proof of being fully vaccinated and boosted if eligible.
  • Social distancing will return to 6 feet reducing capacity but most importantly, risk.
  • Masks are required and N-95, KN-95 and/or well-fitting double masks are strongly recommended

For Worship Services, attendees must show their official vaccination cards or photo of same to a member of the Welcome Team before being escorted to their seats. For other indoor gatherings, the group organizer will be responsible for checking proof of full vaccination.

While COVID numbers are still staggering and we are not there yet, we want to prepare you for the changes that will allow those choosing to gather again sooner than we could have under the previous policy.  Of course, live-streamed services will always be available for those who choose not to meet in-person.

Since this requires one additional step, over the coming weeks, there will be frequent reminders to help us all remember to bring our proof of vaccination for our first time back.  And, as always, if you are not feeling well, it is good practice for your own health and that of others, to choose to stay home.  If you have questions, you can email presidentboardoftrustees@orlandouu.org.  We are pleased to bring this policy change from the Task Force and the Board that will allow us to be together again, sooner.

With Grace and Loving Kindness,                   Yours in Service,
Rev. Margalie                                                  Joan Nelson, Board President

New Here?  Welcome!

Whoever you are, whatever you are, wherever you are on your journey, we bid you welcome.  Our buildings are closed, but the church is OPEN with lots of virtual offerings:

Wednesday Evening Vespers
Every second and fourth Wednesday 6:00 – 6:30pm, via Zoom

In the traditional religious sense, Vespers is an evening prayer service. For our purpose here at 1U, it will be a contemplative time of reflection. A time of coming together for a midweek spiritual snack and to engage your spirit. There may be music, poetry, or some other form of writing, meditation, short discussions, and, yes, even prayer now and again. This service is offered over Zoom on the second and fourth Wednesdays.

Let’s come together in a contemplative manner for a midweek spiritual refueling via zoom using this link: https://zoom.us/j/96846099771
