We are a social group of midlife and older couples who are members or friends of First Unitarian Church of Orlando. Our age isn’t so much a determining factor as is the fact that we are empty nesters or no nesters. We try to meet every other month throughout the year for social interaction and camaraderie. All couples in a committed relationship are welcome. We are an open group, and new members are always invited to attend our events.
Some of the popular recurring events we have each year are: an Oscar brunch where everyone brings a dish representative of one of the Academy Award nominations; a holiday potluck and sing-along; a soccer event; a Florida Film Festival event; a Fringe Festival event; a theater event; and small group dinners in members’ homes. Our events are often potluck, and for each event we have a host who is the event coordinator. Every year we have an all-group potluck dinner hosted in someone’s home or in Gore Hall; this is when we take suggestions for events for the coming year. We also have unscheduled “pop up events” that members post in our group email.
