Homelessness – Community Film & Discussion
You are invited to see the film “Same Kind of Different as Me” in the theater and then gather with others from the faith community for conversation. First Unitarian Church of Orlando (1U) will host a community conversation on Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 from 7:00-8:00 pm in Gore Hall.
You can see the film with others from the Central Florida faith community during the special preview on Wednesday, October 18th (see below) or see it on your own when it opens two days later.
“Same Kind of Different as Me” is based on the best-selling book by Ron Hall, which tells the true story of how volunteering at a rescue mission transformed the lives of a married couple and the homeless man they befriended. This moving, powerful movie stars Academy Award winners Jon Voight and Renee Zellweger, and nominees Greg Kinnear and Djimon Hounsou.
The film preview, which runs 2 hours and 16 minutes, is being organized through the Orlando Rescue Mission and promoted by the Faith Committee of the Commission on Homelessness, of which Rev. Kathy is a part.
Rev. Kathy will see the film as part of the preview on October 18th. She will attend the 7:00 pm showing at Winter Park Regal Cinemas. She would love company. There other times as well as an additional location. Check the link to view locations and times and order tickets.

Because there will not be time for conversation following the showings, Rev. Kathy offered to host conversation a week later. Everyone who purchases a ticket to the preview will get a follow up email that will include a invitation to the conversation. Those who see it on another day are most welcome. RSVP’s will be helpful organizing purposes.
