We currently have two contemporary music groups, Welkin and the Eclectic Music Collective.
Welkin is directed by Music Director Jamie Sterrett. Their mission is to provide music for Sunday worship and have fun doing it. Thriving on diverse repertoire, they do both originals and covers from artists as diverse as Sarah McLachlan, Donovan, The Jackson 5, Sly & The Family Stone, Little River Band, Beatles, Sting, and others. The group tailors the music to fit the ministerial theme of the day. Original music is encouraged!
They typically perform one or two Sundays a month at both the 9:30 am and the 11:00 am worship services. They are active year round.
The vision for this group was to pull together the various members or friends of the church that have musical abilities and varied tastes that may not be represented in the current 1U musical groups. The group is dynamic and open to membership and styles, choosing to cover all the options in between the Folk Ensemble, Welkin, and the Chalice Choir.
EMC welcomes those with varied musical ability, from beginners to advanced. Their focus is on creating musical fellowship and working together to present up to four musical performances per year during Sunday services and or special events. EMC made its debut during the Fall Concert in November 2016.
This group also needs audio/video tech experience and support/administrative assistance.
Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:30pm in the Sanctuary.
