Our First Unitarian Church’s (1U) social justice activities offer us ways to take action to help bring about the world of our dreams — a peaceful, just, and sustainable world for all.
There are several areas that have received a lot of energy in recent years. Sometimes this is because of its timeliness; sometimes this is because it is an area in which a liberal religious voice can make a difference. Sometimes we are engaged in an issue that has been chosen for several years of study and action by Unitarian Universalist (UU) congregations across the association. In addition to these areas, we also respond to events in the world around us at the local level, the global level, and everything in between.
Take a look at action areas, watch the Weekly Update for new ideas, and consider joining our 1U Justice google group for timely information about local actions.
Did you receive an email that gives you information so you can attend, march, protest, support, or learn about an activity that may appreciate your 1U involvement? To get immediate messages or a daily summary, and to share Social Justice Events and information in central Florida and beyond that you learn about, join 1U Justice googlegroup. Email your request to join, including the name and email address you want used.
The congregation gets involved in various social and justice issues depending on what’s going on in the world around us. To learn a little more about how we have been involved, click on the various topic buttons below.
