This month’s topic is: Is the World Coming to an End? Does your faith tradition have a teaching about an end of the world? Is it a grand and glorious dawning of a new era? A terrible destruction? Both? What comes after? In what ways does such a teaching impact the way adherents live life daily?
The actual interfaith session will take place 12/18 at the Holocaust Center with representatives of Christianity, Buddhism & Baha’i, and Rev, Kathy moderating. More info here.

Pastoral Care Associates
Pastoral Care Associates are fellow 1U members who have been especially trained to provide a confidential, caring presence to congregants undergoing stressful life challenges. Through this minister-extending program, members can receive compassionate care when they are in pain, sick, lonely or struggling with changes. It can be comforting to know you’re not alone and it helps to have someone from 1U’s faith community listen, care, and offer support. If you are in need, contact our Pastoral Care Associates Coordinator Harriett Smithson (pastoralassociates@OrlandoUU.org).
Building Steering Committee & RFP Introduced
At 1U’s recent Town Hall meeting, the 1U Building Steering Committee (BST) unveiled the plan for the first steps of building our dream on our campus. The plan includes creating three teams, as well as someone overseeing all: Communications, Building/Design and Finance. The team has put together an initial Request for Proposal (RFP) that is going out to five architectural firms. This RFP reflects the wishes and dreams that we’ve talked about for many years. Another congregational town hall on March 16 will focus on the proposals we receive in response. See here for a letter with an overview of the meeting, here for the RFP and here for the PowerPoint presentation that was shared at the meeting. This is the very beginning of the process and by no means does this RFP include everything that will be in our final building, but it is a way to get us started. We’re off to an exciting adventure—we’d love for you to read it all and be involved! At any times, comments and questions can be sent to BldgCommunications@OrlandoUU.org.
