Other News

New Coordinator of Religious Education

We are delighted to announce that 1U member Regina Knabe has agreed to serve as our Interim Coordinator of Religious Education for the 2014-2015 Program Year. Regina comes to the position with a strong background with children’s organizations, as well as abundant energy and creativity. She has been teaching in our preschool class over the last year. Regina will serve 20 hours a week beginning July 1. She is already meeting with the Children’s Religious Education Committee and we are excited about the year ahead. More info to follow in the coming weeks.

Minister Away

Rev. Kathy will be away from the congregation through Saturday, July 5. This will be a combination of vacation (see the new grandbaby) and work. She will attend General Assembly in Providence, RI and conduct weddings for two congregational couples, one in New York and one in Rhode Island. While she is away, she will monitor email and mobile voice mail but be responding only to emergency or very timely matters.  Please contact the appropriate staff person or lay leaders for all other matters. She will be away for an additional week later in the summer.

Adult RE Help Needed

We would like to continue to offer adult RE at 9:30 in Room 18 when the new program year starts up in September. Anyone who has a burning desire to share any topic related in any way to our Seven Principles or congregational life, on a monthly basis from mid-September through May, please find Charlotte Fleming and share your ideas. We need 4 people, and each person can tap others to lead individual sessions. The possibilities are endless, and the task easy.

Pastoral Care Associates

Pastoral Care Associates are fellow 1U members who have been especially trained to provide a confidential, caring presence to congregants undergoing stressful life challenges. Through this minister-extending program, members can receive compassionate care when they are in pain, sick, lonely or struggling with changes.  It can be comforting to know you’re not alone and it helps to have someone from 1U’s faith community listen, care, and offer support.   If you are in need, contact our Pastoral Care Associates Coordinator Harriett Smithson.
