The Alliance – (No meeting Dec. 24)
Alliance is delighted to have closed the Holiday Boutique and to announce that we took in over $2,000! Special thanks go to those who donated so many items and those who worked the store during business hours. The meeting schedule for the rest of the year is as follows: There will be no meeting on Dec. 24, but there will be a meeting on Dec. 31, which will be a bring-your-own lunch day as well as the White Elephant Gift Exchange. Members are encouraged to bring a wrapped item costing less than $10 that is attractive and possibly useful.
The Alliance has an urgent request for pant or skirt hangers. Preferred is a swivel hook with clothespin style pinchers at either end of the hanger. We will accept all skirt or pants hangers as our shortage is acute. Plastic or wood is just fine. Please, no other types of hangers at this time. Many thanks to the generous hearts who help us in so many requests. The best of holidays to each and every one of you!

Keeping the Food Pantry Shelves Stocked
Over the past several weeks, 1U members have been gracious in providing canned and dry goods food items for distribution to the Catholic Charities Semoran Food Pantry. They are able to package to the size of family and have special packs for the homeless who cannot cook their food. The food pantry served over 1000 individuals in November, but in December they slowed access hours for the needy because they were running out of food. 1U will continue this effort through the Christmas Holiday. Please bring your items to church and place them in the marked boxes in Gore Hall. Thanks for sharing what you can with other Central Floridians.
Kierstin Homblette to be Ordained: A Presentation To Her And To Us
Kierstin Homblette, the daughter of 1U members Kathy & Dan Homblette, will be ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in January in Denver. At that time, 1U will be presenting Kierstin with her first stole. If you would like to make a financial contribution toward this gift, please contact Rev. Kathy at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, join Kierstin for a special Adult Religious Education offering THIS Sunday while she is home for the holidays. At 9:30am in the Assembly Room, Kierstin will talk about the process of becoming a UU minister and the important role that congregations play at every step of the journey.
Got Change? Want to better understand life’s inevitable transitions?

Our next opportunity to Share the Plate will be Dec. 22, when our beneficiary will be Shepherd’s Hope. Shepherd’s Hope provides health care to uninsured, low-income people in Orlando and the surrounding area. First Unitarian will also be making a special Christmas Eve Share the Plate collection on Dec. 24 for the Zebra Coalition, a network of organizations which provide services to LGBT+ youth ages 13–24. Please let the holiday spirit guide you in giving generously to our carefully chosen community partners.

In the workshop Reverend Kathy will tell participants about the history, philosophy, and practices of Unitarian Universalism, and church leaders will share information about our congregation. In this season of gifts, may we remember the present–the moment in which we currently dwell. May we treasure the gift that our presence can be… in that moment … when we are truly ourselves… open-hearted…with one another
