Wrestling with our Understandings around Race — 12:30 pm, Hiett Library

This is an open meeting on the first Sunday of each month. The events of this year have called our attention to issues of race, and understanding our relationship to those issues. Many of us are wrestling with understanding and responding to our experience, our emotions, and what we are called to do. It can be difficult, and for some of us it is destabilizing. Let us remain open in our hearts to this journey. We anticipate deep conversation within the congregation, and hope for understanding, healing and spiritual development. Bring your questions and concerns and join with others in conversation. Ellen Tetlow facilitates.

First Sunday Fellowship

1U members and friends gather in various parts of Orlando (Winter Park, East of 436, Downtown, West Orlando, Conway, South Orlando, so far) for neighborhood connections. These are opportunities for social interactions, a meal and/or beverage, and the chance to expand relationships. Unlike “Dinner with Friends,” groups are meeting at neighborhood restaurants, not individual homes. If you are interested in learning more or finding a group near you, contact Kathy Homblette at Fellowship@orlandouu.org. Times and locations vary.

Minister’s Day Off

Rev. Kathy is changing her day off to Fridays. Thursday will be her writing day, which means she will typically be focused on worship preparation. Therefore, her most available days (aside from Sunday) will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

If you are bringing items for the Alliance or any other activity, please plan ahead. Make sure a staff person or other church member will already be at the church to take the package(s) and put them in the right place. Thanks for your cooperation.

Pastoral Care Associates

Pastoral Care Associates are fellow 1U members who have been especially trained to provide a confidential, caring presence to congregants undergoing stressful life challenges. Through this minister-extending program, members can receive compassionate care when they are in pain, sick, lonely or struggling with changes. It can be comforting to know you’re not alone and it helps to have someone from 1U’s faith community listen, care, and offer support. If you are in need, contact our Pastoral Care Coordinator at pastoralassociates@OrlandoUU.org.

1U Caring Circle

Members of the Caring Circle offer kind, practical, tangible efforts to other church members who may be experiencing significant joys, concerns, sorrows, or changes in their lives. Other members serve in providing phone calls, greeting cards, rides to church events, medical appointments, meals for a while, pet care, etc. Please contact our Caring Circle coordinator Elise Harrison at CaringCircle@OrlandoUU.org for details or to participate. Here are monthly contacts for the rest of 2016:
