Welcome Home Wednesday has officially ended!
Thank you to all of our wonderful teachers who taught classes and to the volunteers that helped set up and clean up every Wednesday. We have created an exit survey for folks who attended WHW to fill out so the WHW Committee can assess the success of this springs WHW and see where we can improve. Thank you!!

Introducing at 1U: The Eclectic Music Group!
The mission: To produce, introduce and highlight a diversity of eclectic music styles and genres from punk to post-modern; jazz to classical; any music from any point of cultural origin with one or two mixed media performances a year, more if interest, talent, resources and schedules support.
We solicit participation from the congregation or friends thereof for everything from audio tech support, visual arts, dance, poetic works, to instrumental and vocal performance. With an emphasis on artistic quality, promotion of UU’s seven principles and building community through collaboration.
The first performance is scheduled for the July 10 Sunday service featuring Electronic Ambient and Dance music. Please contact John Brockman at EMG@OrlandoUU.org if you are interested in participating and committing your time, talent, ideas and support.
Next Blood Drive Could Be Our Last
Our next blood drive here at 1U is coming up June 12 from 8 am-1 pm. All blood types are needed. Each unit of blood that is collected can save up to three lives. If you are willing and able you will truly be giving the gift of life. Our participation rate has been so low this year, One Blood may elect to discontinue sending us their Red Bus. Please be part of a strong donation showing on June 12. Questions? Blooddrive@orlandouu.org.

First Sunday Fellowship
1U members and friends gather in various parts of Orlando (Winter Park, East of 436, Downtown, West Orlando, Conway, South Orlando, so far) for neighborhood connections. These are opportunities for social interactions, a meal and/or beverage, and the chance to expand relationships. Unlike “Dinner with Friends,” groups are meeting at neighborhood restaurants, not individual homes. If you are interested in learning more or finding a group near you, contact Kathy Homblette at Fellowship@orlandouu.org. Times and locations vary.
Join 1U A/V Team
Want to learn about sound systems, or how to present a slide show or video? Then the 1U Audio/Visual team is for you! You don’t need to be an expert to join in the fun. Personalized training is provided, and you can polish your skills as you go. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or you can always just show up at the A/V room right after service to chat. More info here.

GIVE BY TEXT – a new contribution option is available!
You can now make a contribution to First Unitarian Church with a quick text message! The process involves simply sending a text to 407-456-7082 with the amount you would like to contribute. Make sure to include the dollar sign before the amount (for example: $25). NOTE: Do not place a space between the dollar sign and the dollar amount. Within a few minutes, you’ll be sent a text with a link to register. Click on the link and enter your cardholder name and credit or debit card information. Once your registration is complete, you will receive a text verification and a receipt via email. For future giving, simply send a text with the amount you wish to give, and it will process automatically! It gets easier all the time to support 1U, and we thank you.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do members know when their donations are processed? Members receive an immediate confirmation via text that their contribution has been received. After a text contribution has been processed, it appears on the member’s credit/debit card statement.
Are all contributions set at a fixed dollar amount? No. The member chooses the amount of the donation.
Are members assessed any special fees? No, but normal text messaging fees from their cell phone carriers may apply.
Are text contributions ever charged to a member’s mobile phone bill? Give by Text is safe and secure. Your phone carrier only sends the text exchange and never has access to any financial information. Contributions are processed using the payment method specified in the member’s online profile.
What payment methods are available for giving by text? Available payment options are credit and debit cards.
Can members set up recurring donations by text? No, text is great for one-time contributions. Recurring contributions are easily set up through 1U’s “Donate” button on our website (www.orlandoUU.org).
Can members text contributions to individual funds? Yes! 1U’s Funds that you can contribute to via text are:
Annual Pledge (texting code: annualpledge)

Pastoral Care Associates
Pastoral Care Associates are fellow 1U members who have been especially trained to provide a confidential, caring presence to congregants undergoing stressful life challenges. Through this minister-extending program, members can receive compassionate care when they are in pain, sick, lonely or struggling with changes. It can be comforting to know you’re not alone and it helps to have someone from 1U’s faith community listen, care, and offer support. If you are in need, contact our Pastoral Care Coordinator at pastoralassociates@OrlandoUU.org.
1U Caring Circle
Members of the Caring Circle offer kind, practical, tangible efforts to other church members who may be experiencing significant joys, concerns, sorrows, or changes in their lives. Monthly contact people follow up on Joys and Concerns expressed in Sunday worship, as well as notices from the minister or other church members, about short-term circumstances that may need attention. Other members serve in providing phone calls, greeting cards, rides to church events, medical appointments, meals for a while, pet care, etc. Please contact our Caring Circle coordinator Jenny Lockington at CaringCircle@OrlandoUU.org for details or to participate.
